Commission a Portrait

Rosalind began her training in professional portraiture in Florence, Italy at the Charles Cecil Studios. It was there that she was first introduced to the traditional sight-size technique. Since at least the 17th century, the sight size method was utilised by many of the greats in European portraiture including Reynolds, Sargent and Lawrence.
Drawing directly from life, Rosalind likes to explore the magic that can occur with the movement and change in the natural features and surroundings of her subject. Not aiming to create ' a photo-like representation,' rather she intends the finished portrait to have captured unique character or nature of her subject.
The process of creating one of these portraits can be seen as enjoyable experience in itself. Completed over a period of 3-4 sittings(variable according to circumstances), the sitter (subject of the portrait) and painter are part of the creative process together. The sitter is also able to observe the creation of their portrait as it evolves beside them on the easel.
